Memorial Day weekend is home to 5k races all across the Chicago land area, but there are only a few great ones! We wanted to share a few of our favorites coming to Chicagoland this year.
Wimps need not apply! Far from your average 5k, the Heroes Mud Run takes over Marmion Academy and Abbey Farms May 24. Home to 17 military-like obstacles on top of the usual cross-country terrain, wave after wave of runners will maneuver through obstacles like a “Wounded Warrior Carry” and “Monster Tire Flip” all while getting muddy! Special guest Jim Cornelison kicks off the event with a famous rendition of the national anthem any Blackhawks fan will recognize. Race day registration is $70. Check it out here!
As an early exception to wearing white before Memorial Day, Run or Dye Chicago is headed to Toyota Park on May 24. Deck yourself out in all white and count on getting blasted with colorful dye as you run through five separate color stations along the route. Then enjoy the world-famous Dye Festival where the tie dying continues in the ultimate celebration of life, friendship, fitness and fun. Registration is only $57 per runner and gets cheaper if you make a team! Also, you can take $5 off your registration fee when you use the code MOTIONPR. Tell your friends and register here!
Chicago’s very own Soldier Field is set to host this 5k welcoming runners of all ages. May 25 both competitive and leisure runners are lacing up their shoes and uniting with patriotic spirit to show support for troops and veterans. Cost is $30 and registration opens at 7:30 a.m. with the race kicking off at 9:00. Walkers of all ages are welcome, too! Learn more here!
