August Wrap-up

Labor day has passed, and we are all beginning to say our goodbyes to summer. With the coming of a new season, the team here at Motion PR is excited to welcome the new opportunities that the fall will bring! But first, let’s take a moment to celebrate the changes happening within Motion PR and the recent accomplishments of our clients.

New Hires:

  • Ashley Moses:  Let’s give a warm welcome to Ashley Moses who was recently hired as a Senior Account Executive. Ashley’s experience at some of Chicago’s top PR firms, along with her positive energy and strong work ethic have allowed her to build strong relationships with both our new clients and members of the team here at Motion PR.

  • Val Galassini: Congrats to this summer’s intern, Val Galassini, on recently being hired as a full-time Assistant Account Executive. Val’s ability to work hard and learn quickly has allowed her to prove herself as an invaluable member of the team.

  • Jonathan Miller: We’re excited to welcome Jonathan Miller as the Account Manager. Jonathan’s work ethic and strong personality, paired with his great sense of humor, have made him an excellent asset to the team.

New Clients:

  • Alazzo: Alazzo is an online, Chicago-based, retail company that allows for men to purchase custom fitting shirts in all different patterns, colors, and styles. Simply take your measurements at home, plug them into their website, and wait for your perfectly fitting shirt to arrive at your door!

  • The Chicago Beer Festival: This beer festival, which features over 60 different domestic and international breweries, allows attendees to sample different fall seasonal beers. Be sure to check out this festival at Union Station on October 19, 2013.

  • Raise: Raise is an innovative online platform that allows users to buy discounted gift cards to brands like Target and Macy’s as well as sell their own unused gift cards for cash.

  • 30 Watt – Drink Wisconsinbly: Drink Wisconsinbly is one of Wisconsin’s newest lifestyle brands rooted in the state’s proud drinking culture. They sell a variety of apparel, drinkware, and other fun goodies such as cooler bags and neon signs.

Notables:

  • Datascope was featured in the Chicago Tribune celebrating how their unique business structure promotes creativity and leadership in the workplace. This Chicago-based data science shop has a team of nine who all carry the same job titles and earn equal salary. Members of the team said this structure helps to create leaders out of regular employee’s and fosters an overall great company culture.

  • Red Bull recently hosted the Battle Grounds 2014 StarCraft II “e-Sports” tournament in Detroit. One-hundred and twenty-eight gamers battled it out for the chance to win $8,000.  Later this month, Red Bull will host the Grand Finals in Washington, DC where a prize of $50,000 will be up for grabs.

  • Akta was excited to land a spot on this year’s Inc 500 list after experiencing over 1000% growth this past year. Akta’s CEO, John Roa, says the company has no plans to stop growing, and that it will likely double or triple in the next year, landing them an even higher spot on next year’s Inc 500.

  • Celebrity Cruises was recently featured in a segment on WCIU’s You & Me This Morning. Sara Grueneberg, from Season 9 of Top Chef, spoke about her upcoming trip with Celebrity Cruises. Sara revealed her excitement to travel around Europe while cooking with fellow Top Chef contestants.

  • Payback, an e-textbook Chicago startup from ABC’s Shark Tank, recently raised $1 million in seed funding. The Wall Street Journal broke the news and shared that Payback plans to use the funding to develop partnerships with textbook publishers, grow their catalog of books, and promote their services on more US college campuses.
  • Illinois Currency Exchange Charitable Foundation was featured on WGN, praising the foundation’s biggest Back 2 School distribution of the year. Over 75,000 school supplies were donated to 20,000 Chicagoland students. The event  was a huge success, including fun arts and crafts stations, bounce houses, and lots of school supplies!
